   General Notes:

Information from Shirley Herning-Swaim:
Shirley believes they belong tooo the big Horning family of Minden, Montgomery, NY of which these is a published genealogy that drops off about 1800, with several Hornings heading for the Black River area. Isaac Herning (Erning) can be found in the 1850 Federal Census for Alexandria, Jefferson, NY. Isaac's son Wilbert is llisted as a child. So the surname started out as Horning, went too Erning, then Herning, with some of those in Oconto and Shawano, WI spelling it Hurning. Wilbert is listed in one census as Robert Herning.
Isaac stated on at least two census reports that the family was from Germany.
Shirley suspects Adam's family was part of the Palatinate movement to NY from Germany, by way of Englannd , in the early 1700's.
