William Henry Smith, 83, of Boise, died Wednesday, June 26, 1985, in a Boise nursing home of natural causes.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 28th, at Dry Creek Cemetery with Rev. Ted Edquist of the First Congregational Church officiating. Services are under the direction of Alden-Waggoner Chapel.
Mr. Smith, a former owner of Idaho Star Products, was born Nov. 4, 1901, at Old's Ferry, Idaho, a son of Charles E. and Rosa Smith. He was from a family of eight. He was raised in the Boise area and Smith's Prairie and attended Boise schools as well as Link's School of Business.
He married Myrtle Marie Duncan on Sept. 1, 1923 at Boise, where they made their home. He worked his way up from a laborer to manager of Mutual Creamery. They then lived in Emmett briefly before returning to Boise where he started his own business, Idaho Star Products, a wholesale ice cream business. Keeping that business name he later handled Wood's Coffee and then eggs for restaurants and stores. In 1980 he was forced to retire because of illness.
He was a past member of the Rotary Club.
William enjoyoed hunting, fishing, and bowling in his earlier days. He was a loving and caring father and grandfather.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda (Mrs. Gerald) Sutton of Boise, and two grandchildren, Lizlee Alter of California and Greg Sutton of Boise. His wife, Myrtle died in 1981.
Memorials may be made to the Mountain States Tumor Institute, 151 E. Bannock, Boise; or the First Congregational Church. Friends may call today from noon to 9 p.m. at the Alden-Waggoner Chapel.
